Bin this for a start ... no-one moved around that much. What do you know for certain about his life before he emigrated?
Unfortunately I have not discovered anything overseas that I can verify is him. Only supposition.
I found a news article in several papers this morning that seems to suggest he has a brother Claude (lives in the same town or even house as him) and sister Isa (in Newton) assuming this is the same Harry Morgan:

"Miss Isa Morgan of Newton is spending a few days in the city, the guest of her brothers Harry and Claude Morgan" ~ The Hutchinson News (Hutchinson, Kansas) · Wed, Jan 3, 1894 · Page 7

"Miss Isa Morgan went to Nickerson to visit a few days with her brothers, Harry and Claud Morgan" ~ The Evening Kansan (Newton, Kansas) · Thu, Jan 4, 1894 · Page 3

Here is some research I did using census records in KS from 1875-1900 to isolate Morgan family groups around the Hutchinson, KS area: https://www.wikitree.com/photo/pdf/Morgan_Census_records_from_Kansas_1875-1900

The group in question is the one highlighted in green in the pdf.

If he was born in July and christened in October of 1848, his parents could be Henry and Caroline Morgan.

Do you think Fifield could be he mother's maiden name?
No, this mothers's name was DREW
I have considered this but can't find anything to verify.
Thanks - That's kind of what I have been thinking, (and tentatively set as his mother on Ancestry.com).  The broader question is "Which Henry Morgan is his father?"  There are only "a few" in that area at that time. :)
That was my thought as well.

This family tree is already posted on Ancestry UK.

Having reviewed its branches and cross checked, I am sorry to say it lacks any sources or creditability.

Please post what you factually know and then let G2G research  further.

Given that what I posted is from family records and living relatives (including my 90 year old grandmother), along with verification from birth records, marriage records, etc. I would say what I have noted in this post is accurate. If you dispute what I am saying, please point to where.

Regarding the line you claim is on ancestry UK, I subscribe to the overseas ancestry site and can't find any records to tie my tree to others out there with any level of confidence.
I think Ron just means the UK part of the tree - and I agree with him. No-one moved from Southampton to Islington to Cardiff to Belfast to Glasgow. It's a mish-mash of half a dozen different people.

What information did Harry actually provide about himself with regards to when and where he was born? Please don't try to interpret or correct the data in any way, just tell us what he put on censuses or elsewhere.

That's the same thing I was seeing on the UK part of the site and why I couldn't come to any real conclusions.

Regarding Harry, this is what I have thus far (besides what has been noted above).  My aunt may have more as she has done majority of the research over the last 15 years (I have only really gotten into this over the last 4-5 years part-time).  We have a copy of several warranty deeds between Henry and Sarah to Samuel Halloway in 1886 (in Barber County, KS) and the land payment receipts.

Resided in Hutchinson, KS in 1895; DOB verification, birth location, etc supported by Kansas State Historical Society; Topeka, Kansas; 1895 Kansas Territory Census; Roll: v115_124; Line: 14

I  have a photo of the gravesite in Eastside Cemetary (Hutchinson, KS)and a copy of the burial record.

In the 1900 Census, I found wife Sara and the kids, but not him which makes sense considering his date of death.

Year: 1900; Census Place: Hutchinson Ward 3, Reno, Kansas; Roll: 496; Page: 8B; Enumeration District: 0205; FHL microfilm: 1240496

I also have quite a bit more information in both personal records and verified sources on his son (my great-grandfather) Charles Fifield Morgan (Born 3 Apr 1885 in Sun City, KS) and on Sara, but nothing except for guesses on his life prior to coming to the US.

I forgot to mention - there was quite a bit of detail in his obituary as well.  Source: Hutchinson Democrat 11 Apr 1896 states (paraphrased) that he died at his residence, 115D. West at noon on the 3d inst. and was buried on Saturday.  He was born in South Hampton, England and served eight years in the English Army.  He married and sailed from Liverpool twelve years ago, coming straight to Kansas and for the greater part of the time, resided in Hutchinson, KS.

This is a longshot but Claud(e) is a rare name in the UK and there are very few Claude Morgans. One caught my eye as his birth was registered in the Isle of Wight which is adjacent to Southampton. He was born in 1875 with a mother's maiden name of Jones. Searching for all Morgans born in the Isle of Wight with a mother Jones returned:

MORGAN, FLORENCE       JONES
GRO Reference: 1871  M Quarter in ISLE OF WIGHT  Volume 02B  Page 551
MORGAN, HAROLD  JOHN    JONES
GRO Reference: 1872  J Quarter in ISLE OF WIGHT  Volume 02B  Page 555
MORGAN, MURIEL       JONES
GRO Reference: 1874  D Quarter in ISLE OF WIGHT  Volume 02B  Page 564
MORGAN, BROOKE       JONES
GRO Reference: 1875  D Quarter in ISLE OF WIGHT  Volume 02B  Page 554
MORGAN, CLAUDE       JONES
GRO Reference: 1875  D Quarter in ISLE OF WIGHT  Volume 02B  Page 554
MORGAN, REGINALD       JONES
GRO Reference: 1877  J Quarter in ISLE OF WIGHT  Volume 02B  Page 561

So could the Harry referred to in the newspaper report actually be the Harold above with his brother Claude? No sign of Isa unfortunately.

I could not find a Claude in any of the early Kansas Census records other than a Claude Snyder (b.1894) - grandson to William Y Morgan (b.1865) in the 1900 Federal census in Hutchinson, Kansas area.

The other thing I noticed is that timeline seems very close given that my Harry (Henry) b.1848 only just arrived in KS around 1894 and Isa's trip was in January, 1894.

Maybe these 2 family groups are actually related?  I find no other Henry, Harry, or Claude in the census records around that time in the immediate area...hmm..another strange lead.
I just thought of something else...maybe the articles have the names messed up...Harry had a child named Eliza Morgan (b. 1894)...maybe it was a Claude coming to see Harry and Eliza (who may have been called "Iza" or "Isa" for short)?  Even if that was the case, I still don't see a Claude in this family group unless I am missing something.
