Hi Everyone,

My Name Is Lisa,

I'm New to WikiTree So please bare with me while I get to know how Wikitree works,

I'm not new to Ancestry Because I've been Researching & Building my family tree On Ancestry for a number of years Now

I'm also Looking forward to learning about Wikitree & Creating my Own Family tree On here & will hopfully connect with Others whom are researching the same families as myself,

But at the moment I've hit a bit of a brick wall as to what part of Galway My Mother's Flynn family are from,

My Grandfathers family were Catholic & all Baptised at St Chads Cathedral In Hockley Birmingham In the 1860-1870s,

They were Quite a large family of Flynn's in the Hockley & Aston & Surrounding Area's of B,ham,

My 4 X Great-Grandparents Were Mary & Daniel Flynn. Unfortunately I'm Unable to find a Maiden name for Mary, But believe she was Born abt 1820 In Maybe Galway & Daniel Flynn was Born abt 1819 In Galway Eire,

Mary came Over to England from Eire before 1860, But we believe Daniel flynn Died In Eire before she Left Because of the Great Irish famine,

Mary Brought her Children with her to England before 1860,

Eldest Son was Patrick Flynn,B 1838,

 Michael Flynn, Born abt 1841,

David Flynn(My Gr,Gr,Grandfather) Born abt 1844,

Daniel Flynn, Born about 1846,

Mary Flynn, Born abt 1839,

 Margaret Flynn,

 Bridget Flynn

 & Maria Flynn, B, abt 1855,
Also We Believe there may of been other Siblings, John & James Flynn
 All Galway Eire Born,

My 2x Great-Grandfather was David Flynn, Born 1874 In Birmingham England to Parents David Flynn Snr & Esther Selina Worrad/Worral

Siblings Of David Jnr Flynn, Born 20th Jan 1874

James Flynn, Born Dec 11th 1868

Daniel James Flynn, Born 26th Feb 1869

William Patrick Flynn, Born March 1876

Edward Flynn, Born 15th Dec 1870

Ellena Flynn, Born 3rd March 1879,

All Baptised at St Chad's Cathedral In Hockley Birmingham, England

Any Info Or Connection would be So Helpful,

 Thank you

Regards

Lisa

Hi Lisa,

My g-grandfather, William Flynn (1837-1913) was from Woodford, co. Galway, but he was Protestant. He settled in Ontario, Canada around 1853 and came to the Michigan in the 1870s. His father was supposed to be John Flynn, the sextant at the Protestant church in Woodford. He was married to Eliza Burke. My grandfather always said we were protestant Irish, but when the family converted, I do not know. There may be some connection with your Flynn family.

Hi Gerrie,

I know quite a bit So far Re-My Mothers Flynn family, I Do have my Great-Grandfathers & his siblings Baptism records from St Chads Cathedrial In Hockley, Birmingham England, My Great-Grandfather was David Flynn, B, 1875, Siblings, William Patrick Flynn, Edward Flynn, Joseph Flynn, James Flynn & Ellena Flynn, all Birmingham England Born, But Catholic, Now My Gr,Gr,Grandfather was also called David Flynn, Born 1841 In Galway, Died in 1887 In Birmingham, he had quite a few Siblings that Came to England before 1860, from Galway We Believe that fled the Great Irish famine, Mary Flynn(Unknown Maiden Name) was married to a Daniel Flynn, we believe Daniel died in Eire before mary left for England with her Children, Now One of her Children the Oldest Child was Patrick Flynn, Born about 1838 In Galway & Died In 1915, B,ham, He was married to a Mary Bridget Lowry, they had quite a few Children & One was called John U Flynn, Born about 1875, Could have been Eire, Because Patrick Flynn was Born galway & his wife Bridget was Born In Cork Eire & Some of there children may of also been born Eire aswel,..Other Childrens names Of Patrick & Bridget were

  • Mary Ann Flynn

    1866–

  • David Flynn

    1870–1933

  • Ellen Flynn

    1871

  • Selina Flynn

    1871–

  • Nellie Flynn

    1873

  • Rose Flynn

    1874–1924

  • John U Flynn

    1875

  • Edward Flynn

    1878–1916

  • Joseph Flynn

  • 1883–1914

  • Arthur Eugene Flynn

    1886

  • See Gerrie, John Could of also went to the US, i have no clue where the rest ended up & it seems most of Our Flynn's named there Children after them, for eg,  there are 3 Generations of David Flynn, from my Grandfather to his Great-Grandfather & also Some of the Cousins, as stated above are all Edwards, David,s Patricks, Ect..haha,

  • So Can get quite Confusing, Like i mentioned in my last post, that i know all my Grandfather Flynn family Names & My Gr,Grandfather & Siblings & Gr,Gr,,Grandfather & siblings whom were Born In Galway, By Parents Mary? & Daniel Flynn & thats where I'm Stuck Gerrie..If i could find a possible maiden name for Mary Flynn, Born abt 1820 In Galway then I'd know more, I know for Certain that Daniel Flynn, Born 1819 was Born Galway & was a Shoemaker by Trade, I did find a Daniel Flynn, Born 1820 a Shoemaker from a Place called Shambolo Parish alashgah Galway..Could be My Dan Flynn But not Certain..Really hope Someone can connect with this flynn family on here...Best Wishes Lisa
