Last night  Thursday  June 8,  i went to the LDS site to search  for  information on    Rev. Charles  Lyne, and some  data   came up.  So i juest went to  the LDS site,  and nothing  comes up today. No problems with familysearch.org  Sometimes they shut down for an hour or so for maintenance.

I guess when you say "LDS site" you mean familysearch.org.

I just ran a search for this man, and I got a baptism record:

    "England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JW2Y-QY4 : 30 December 2014), Chas Lyne, 25 Dec 1776; citing MEVAGISSEY,CORNWALL,ENGLAND, reference ; FHL microfilm 0496827 IT 2 V. 2, 0994031 IT 8, V. 1.

So the website is working. On FamilySearch I sometimes find that if I narrow the search too strictly, I'll fail to find information. So I searched for him with birth in England between 1770 and 1780 (no other details).

With anyone from Cornwall, I find the Cornwall Online Parish Clerks (OPC) database the best place to start.  Their home page is here http://www.cornwall-opc-database.org/  You can either search for a person, or separately for baptism, marriage etc

Also as he was a reverend, - the CCed (Clergy of the Church of England database) has quite a lot of information.  This is there search page http://db.theclergydatabase.org.uk/jsp/search/index.jsp

I did find Charles Lyne, but I don't think I can link to the results page.  It did seem to have quite a bit of detail about where he was ordained etc.  Also that he was educated at Wadham College, Oxford.

Short biographies of graduates of Oxford can be found in an Ancestry.com database or a free book on the Internet Archive  Charles Lyne is on this page https://archive.org/stream/alumnioxoniense01oxfogoog#page/n98/mode/1up

ty John for this.  I agree bout  the cornish sites.  ive been researching my grandmothers family form  Cornwall, as she  came over with her family in 1909.been researching for 24 years, i still am on the rootsweb list for  Cornwall.   I  love reading the West Briton Weekly Newspaper. that  gets posted bout  every week. It sure has alot of  info

    again ty

    ebbie

John i found the information on Rev  Charles Lyne  from the website you gave me, the site CCed (Clergy of the Church of England).  Found exactly  what i was looking  for

    redundant, info already found!
Debbie, my maternal grandfather was born in Australia, but his parents emigrated from Cornwall in the mid-1880s and I've been able to trace my Cornish ancestors better than any other branch of my family because there is so many Cornish sites that are often free.  I haven't checked the West Briton Weekly newspaper lately though, I must do that.
