The profiles concerned seem to be those with War of 1812 templates. Has the template been changed? Thanks!

Hi Laurie, on last errors report, errors 846 and 847 were just added. Then error 849 might be under development.

Thanks, Rubén and Sarah. I'll just wait and see what happens. All will be revealed no doubt!
same problem here. I have 9 of them all to do with category templates. There is no obvious problem...I'm with you Laurie all will be revealed eventually
The Project Box template was changed to enforce new standards

several military and war templates were using the Project Box template, so the displays on the profile page have changed, and some of the elements being passed by our templates are no longer being processed.  we are looking at what we need to do to our templates to get them working as expected again.

can you give some examples of the people you are seeing the errors on so i can take a look at them and see if the issue is something we expect until change is made, or if something else is happening that we need to look at.

Looks like all profiles with the project template Dutch Roots get this error. See this thread. I posted a message on the Google group too.

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Anderson-12211

has Canadian  not sure how Canadian used to be handled by the template, there is no Category:Canadian, War of 1812, old Category: War of 1812, Canada is misnamed and says use Category: Canada, War of 1812, so i think that the old routines should be added to, once they would have changed tom use the new formats...

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Rooth-8  has British if old template code was adding to  Category: Waor of 1812, United Kingdom that is misnamed and should be  Category: United Kingdom, War of 1812

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Sutherland-1040  Category: World War I Canadian Army Veterans  needs to be Category: Canadian Army

Thanks, Keith. I appreciate your help. I'll update the templates and see if that fixes the error.

Maybe a typo? There's no error 849, on the list it jumps from 847 to 851

Lauri, the profiles with that error on my watchlist have the Korean War Template or the World War II template. There was also a template clear on them so it seems to be something to do with templates.

Thanks, Dale. I suspect you're right because looking down the list, I also have a few World War II templates.

did this just start showing up today?  Ales made a change to the Project Box template, which is called by the War of 1812 template.  all that it is supposed to do is stop a template in a category to cause it to add itself as a category, i.e. looping on itself.

if this is showing up in your error report, which i think gets generated on mondays, it may still be an issue with that template, just not something that was being checked before.

I cannot access the changes to the template (restricted to Leaders) but looking at several profiles that are using this one, some also pass a states, i.e.

i think that before, the template was adding the profile to the appropriate category for you, i.e. it would display an image on the profile AND add to

two things.

1. the template no longer processes a passed element 1, so the error may indicate a bad parameter is being sent to the template.

2. Category names names are also being changed, in this case, has been changed to .  the error may indicate that it is being told to add a profile to a category marked as misnamed.

since i do not see where in the template code it is trying to process parameter 1 as a category, i think option 1 is more likely.  Ales is the one working on error reports, but he may be offline for a bit as he has an event this weekend.

Keith is likely right with his point 1.  I have been removing the parameter or passed element e.g. xxxxxxx and just going with War of 1812 it doesn't appear to change anything and will see if it eliminates the error.

For other war related templates check to see if there is parameter which is causing the error.

Thanks, Melissa. Will do.

Keiht is correct. 849 lists template usage with parameter, but templatte is not using that parameter.

It is still under development, and shouldn't be published yet. But due to error in FAG report i had to republish the errors and 849 slipped through.

Thanks, Aleš. Hope your event went well. I'm not the most computer literate member of our family so the best part of this was impressing them by saying, "It was just a little problem with a template not using the proper parameter." :)
