The truncated search not working anymore?

I often use the a truncation (*) in a search when trying to find surnames or first names that might start with the same letters but have a different ending.

So for instance searching for the surname Clemow or Clemowe or Clemmow or Clemmowe, I will use Clem* and usually that finds all the variations, but it no longer seems to be working.

Is this just a glitch or has it been abandoned in favour of the 'include matches with surname variants' option?

John --

Are you searching for just the surname, or are you searching for a first and last name?

Also, when did you first notice this being different?

Thanks!
Searching for a first name with either a last name or first name alone still works, eg. searching for Jo* still brings up a range of first names - John, Joseph etc

But searching for Atkin* (looking for Atkin, Atkins, Atkinson) isn't working it only brings up Atkin surnames.

When I first asked the question, I noticed there were several questions that were similar, so the problem of the truncation not working on the Surname field seems to crop up from time to time.  I only noticed it not working yesterday.
We'll look into this. Thanks, John.
