Help with Taylors and Weavers in Nash/Edgecombe/Pitt Cos NC

I have a brick wall I'm trying to bust. I did AncestryDNA and it came back this past weekend, which has given me tantalizing clues, but as I try to follow through, I can't find the things I need. So:

John Taylor, b 1832 in Nash Co NC, d ca 1900 in Ballard Co KY. My DNA trail ties me into leads into Edgecombe and Pitt Counties (and I'm aware that Nash/Pitt/Edgecombe are all in the same area); it effectively has eliminated the Orange County VA clan.

John, in his county biography, stated he was the youngest of six children of John Taylor, born and died in NC, and Mary Weaver. The hit I'm getting is of a John Taylor and Ann Mourning Weaver, daughter of Benjamin Weaver. I realize that this is likely not my actual connection, but it's fairly obvious by the number of hits I'm getting that it's the right track.

Is there anyone here who knows this area well and can direct me to sources that might shed some light on where to go?

Thank you!

The sources on your profiles are so weak that you may as well consider them unsourced.  Putting things like the words censuses, biography as sources is akin to describing a robbery suspect as having legs and arms.  Not much help!

You may have seen the census records but the profiles don't reflect that.  From the second column in the drop-down menu you can click on research and maybe find some citations from Family Search to go with the profiles.  Then it will be easier for others to help you develop the profiles.  Good luck!
Here is a findagrave site for a John Taylor with the exact same birth date only 20 years later, and the exact same death date:
