Per marriage record, maiden surname was Carter, not Card. How to change?
WikiTree profile: Meribah Potter

There is a small note in the biography mentioning both names.  The manager has obviously considered both options.  Communicating is a good idea, you or they could learn new information and set the profile right.

The profile manager needs to change LNAB. You might send her an email or leave a message on the profile. If you are interested in the profile request to be added to the trusted list.

Create a new profile with the correct Last Name At Birth (LNAB). Copy all of the information from the old profile to the new profile. Initiate a merge from the profile with the old incorrect LNAB to the profile with the new correct LNAB. You must be on the trusted list of both profiles to do this.

Creating a duplicate profile with the intent to merge and correct an error is definitely not recommended procedure on WikiTree. A message to the Profile Manager is the recommended option.
HI Richard, nice to meet you.  Thank you very much for offering help to people, it's part of what makes WikiTree great :)

We try not to create duplicates; it seems they simply disappear and it's a non issue when merged but actually it creates behind the scene potential issues.  One is that it actually keeps the old number active and re-directs any traffic to the new profile.  This becomes more complicated when family are linked.  It also uses up that id# making it forever unavailable for re-use.

The last name at birth (lnab) can be changed by a profile manager.  Even this is to be done only after careful deliberation and with reasonable surety.

Collaboration is the route to take.  It's best to contact the profile manager with your information and have them change the lnab, or to become a manager and do it yourself after communicating with the other profile managers.

I hope this makes sense and is helpful.  Glad to have you here.

I don't agree that it should be changed.  I am the profile manager.  I clearly stated that Carter is an alternate.  I am a descendant of this line of RI people who came to Vermont.  The name remained Card in Vermont for this line.  Suggest that the inquirer should try email before making a public query.  Appreciate the comments that someone has incorrectly added parents from NH.   It is unlikely Meribah was the same age as her husband.  She was a second wife, and had 8 more children.  More likely she was fairly young at marriage ca 1725 rather than a 33 year old spinster.  I am changing the speculative date back to what I originally chose, and deleting the putative parents.

I agree that Meribah's parents are unknown. However, her surname was recorded as Carter when she married Job Potter (see small image added to profile).

I also descend from a Card family of RI and VT but there is no evidence to indicate whether or not Meribah (Carter) Potter is a member of the same Card/Carder/Carter family.
