Hello, I have been trying for 2 years to find out answers about my maternal Great-Grandmother Her name was Eleanor Bansen (b. 1866 in Russia). She married my Great Grandfather Alexander Schleirmacher (b. 1859 in Russia), but I have no marriage certificate to see her last name. They came to Canada in 1892. I have 4 birth records for her children, but there are 4 different names for her! 3 have a variation of the spelling of the name we think it is, and then one which is a totally different last name(Gottfried). Even her first name is spelled differently. I have seen Elinora, Elenor, Elenorah, and Elonorah. Her married name was Schleirmacher (they shortened it to Schleir as that German sounding name made them nervous when they came to Canada). They lived in Manitoba, Canada. Her death certificate hasn't been found yet, and we know she was buried in Manitoba Canada, but the cemetery was flooded in the `50's, and everything paper wise was lost, and the graves all shifted. The information there is lost.
I hope this made sense.
