How can I determine if Catherine (Wedge) Jamieson is my great grandmother's mother?

My great grandmother is Hester Jamieson; I always thought that Jemima was her mother.  I have had a DNA test for the purpose of Ancestry, but not to determine who my relatives are - how can get this done?  and how would I know if I'm Catherine's descendant?

Which DNA test have you taken?

The DNA test will match you to others who share you DNA, provided that they have also had a test and their outcome is open to compare. Unless your Catherine had also had a DNA test, Ancestry results cannot in fact confirm that she is directly related.
