Looking for records of birth parents of Ruth Burgess Kincaid, born October 31, 1928

My grandmother was born (near as we can tell) possibly in the St. Joseph area of Missouri on October 31, 1928.  She was placed in Saint Anthony's in Kansas City; but, when my Aunt made queries - she was told the adoption records (and possibly birth records) were destroyed in a flood.  Most of the records of that time period do not exist.

She was adopted by the Mika family from Junction City, KS.

My grandmother has since died; but, my family is trying to find records of her birth parents and any possible living relatives or descendants for medical history purposes,  (Also, it's important to know where you come from. :) )  Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Megan,

Welcome to wikitree! I haven't been able to find nothing conclusive other than information that supports her adopted parents. Just a suggestion I read in a St Louis Post-Dispatch news article from 2016 that the Missouri Vital Records office was giving people copies of there Original birth certificate if they was born prior to January 1st 1941 however I not sure of all the procedures of how it would work for a grand daughter. But it wouldn't hurt to try contacting the Missouri Vital Records Department
