Hi, thank you but that can't be him because his daughter, Anna, was born in 1812.  I think the Rev Joseph Stopford I am looking for would have been born in Ireland.  I note there were 2 Rev Joseph Stopfords mentioned in Griffiths Valuations: http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/cork/garrycloyne.htm
Hi, I don't think so.  I think he would have been born in Ireland - in Cork
Alright I will see what else I can find

Belfast, Northern Ireland, The Belfast Newsletter (Birth, Marriage and Death Notices), 1738-1925

Name: Rev Joseph Stopford D D
        Gender: Male
        Notice Type: Death
        Residence Place: Dublin
        Death Date: 25 Mar 1833
        Death Place: Glendoen, Letterkenny
        Publication Date: 2 Apr 1833

His daughter was born in 1812, so he probably married no later than 1812. Here's a Joseph Stopford born in Cork, Ireland whose father was also named Joseph Stopford:

        Yay, thank you.  Definitely him!
        thanks
I happen to know a small amount about the Stopford name in Ireland as I came across a land deed that mentioned a Stopford in 1677.  It is a protestant name and I think he was a solidier in Cromwell's army.  Not sure if you know this and it will probably be hard to connect the dots from yours to this one but you never know.  You should look at the Down Survey Project in case you haven't already found it.  You will find the Stopford to which I refer there and what land he had.  It you google the Down Survey project it will come up.

        March 30 1833
On Monday, the 25th inst., at Glendoen Glebe, near Letterkenny, the REV JOSEPH STOPFORD, D.D., Ex Fellow of Trinity College, Dublin, and for many years Rector of the Parish of Conwall, county of Donegal, in the 67th year of his age

very confused now as if he was 67 when he died, he could not have been born in 1773 and this cannot be grandfather rev Joseph Stopford either?
this Joseph wud have been born 1766
But what evidence is there that the Joseph Stopford born 1773 in Cork is the Rev. Joseph Stopford DD, the subject of your question?
no evidence.   these are 2 Joseph Stopfords but which is Ann's father and which not, I would not know.  The one wud have been 39 when she was born; the other wud have died when she was 21 so wud have been 46 when she was born so either is a possibility. i can't find her birth record but her gravestone gives her DOB as 31 March 1812
