Hmm ... not looking good ... I suspect there's something wrong here. Can I ask how you know about the deceased infant Rose Emily?

So can anyone find Ada's birth registration? She was born on 24 March 1895 according to her death record. Although in that case she'd be 16 not 15 at the census (April 2 1911).
Hi...thanks for question. On Ada Emily Driscoll's marriage certificate it states she was 26 years on 3rd April 1922   ..spinster living at 4 Amberley Road, father John Francis Driscoll, mother Rose Emily. She was born on 24 March 1895.

1911 census (thinks census was taken in April)  states age 15, her mother and father were married for 16 years and had 4 children. 2 alive Ada and Violet Edith and 2 deceased children.

Rose Emily was born 1902 and died in Shoreditch in 1903. My grandmother is said to have said she had a knew of a child called Rose. I have not yet traced the other deceased child.

Ada Driscoll was my grandmother.

I hope this helps clarify details.
Yes I saw all that data but can I ask again how you know that Rose Emily was born in 1902 and died in 1903 (and in Shoreditch)? Is this information you yourself have found or is it corroborated by documents?

Sorry to keep on about the poor little mite but there is method in my madness I promise you.
Hi

No problem, I am happy that you would like documentation and I certainly would like confirmation in regard to Rose Emily born 4th July 1900 in Shoreditch. I too, a ma bit concerned thinking that it was unlikely that there would be two girls given the second name Emily,  my gran spoke of a child named Rose. My gran called her first born child Rose Emily (North) - maybe after her mother. I found the death notice for Rose Emily 1900-1902. I was unable to find any other documentation or any other Rose born in Shoreditch/St Pancras at that time. I thought my Grandmother was still living in Shoreditch during that  period. Although I could be wrong as my Great Aunt (Violet Edith Driscoll) is listed as being born on 6th May 1902 in St Pancras. I have therefore put a ? on my tree against Rose Emily. Obviously two children died during the years 1895 to 1911.

Thank you so much and I would appreciate if you make any other discoveries in regard to my Grandma's family. I am still trying to track down one other deceased child. My own mother died 18 years ago so no cannot confirm any anecdotal evidence.

In regard to the 1911 Census noting my Grandmother ()Ada as being 15yrs old. I think the Census was possibly taken a week or so before her 16th birthday.

I found your great-aunt in the 1939 register as Violet E Davey married to Thomas W Davey (also a window cleaner) and her date of birth is 6 May 1902. Technically she was therefore 8, not 9, at the 1911 census but I've seen many cases of parents 'rounding up' ages so it's not really an issue.

Davey Household (2 People) 455 Harrow Road , Paddington, London, England
First name(s)     Last name(s)     DOB     Sex     Occupation     Marital status     Schedule     Schedule Sub Number
Violet E     Davey     06 May 1902     Female     Power Machinist     Married     116     2
Thomas W     Davey     16 Mar 1901     Male     Window Cleaner     Married     116     1

Marriages Dec 1921
Davey    Thomas W     Driscoll    Paddington     1a    158
Driscoll Violet E     Davey         Paddington     1a    158

However, like Ada, Violet does not appear to have had her birth registered.
Here is your grandmother in 1939 (2 children are blanked out, your mother would be one)

North Household  (5 People)
6 Wengham House ,  Hammersmith, London, England
First name(s) Last name(s) DOB Sex Occupation Marital status
Ernest J North 02 Apr 1898 Male Painter (+Look Out Man Railway) Married 133 1
Ada E North 24 Mar 1896 Female Unpaid Domestic Duties Married 133 2
Doris A W Jacobs (North) 22 Aug 1924 Female Upholsting Apprentice Brick Works Single 133 4

This confirms my suspicion that her date of birth was actually 24 March 1896, not 1895. This date fits perfectly with her being 15 (just) at the 1911 census and 26 at her marriage.
I was excited when I found there was an Ada Driscoll with a birth registered in Q2 1896 with a mother's maiden name of Harris

Unfortunately I have now established that this Ada Driscoll was born to James and Jane Driscoll (nee Harris) and is a red herring. They had other children including Maud if you want to find them quickly in the 1891/01 censuses. The birth was registered in Poplar in any case but I was hopeful.

There is no other Ada Driscoll registered in England & Wales in 1896 so either she wasn't registered or it was under a different name.
HI

Thank you so much for your information re Violet Edith...my great aunt. I did have most of these details but have not as yet entered them in my tree. My Great Aunt Violet (Aunt Vi) was at my wedding in 1968 and I have a pic of her with my gran (Ada) and my mum (Joyce) which I intend to put on the tree when able.

Sadly, I cannot find dates of birth for Vi and Ada either. It has been said in our family that they were related to Jim Driscroll (the boxer known as (Gentleman Jim Peerless, welterweight belt winner). So far I have not been able to confirm this either. It is pretty addictive finding these ancestors isn't it?

Once again thanks for the info
