My name is Brock Boyle, and i was wondering about the Boyle/O'Boyle family history in Ireland... I'm very proud of the heritage and curious of my families past times... If you could explain some of our background it would be much appreciated.

Suggestions:

For general information type Surname:Boyle in a search bar such as google. Try Boyle:Surname as well, as you will get some different hits.

You can also type Boyle in the surname search box right here on WikiTree and look to see if any of the many profiles listed are directly related to your family. If you find relatives you can always look under the profile on the right side of the page and find the line that looks like this:

Profile manager: ____________ [send private message]

Click on the [send private message] and email that profile manager directly to share information.

To find more information on your exact family, start your own family history. Write down the names of your parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, grand aunts and uncles etc. And start filling in any information that you can gather as to dates or approximate dates of birth/marriage/death, and locations of where they lived.

This website recommended by Debbie Black has some forms that you might find useful in collecting your data:   http://www.mymcpl.org/genealogy/family-history-forms

Then use a search engine such as the one on familysearch.org. (free) https://familysearch.org/ and plug in the data that you have. Depending on the timeframes and locations - you may get census data, birth, marriage, death records, immigration information and the like to start your own tree.

Good Luck

Hey Chris,

I'm going to edit Brock's question headline from "Curious of Irish heritage.." to "What is the Boyle/O'Boyle family history in Ireland?" The latter seems to be what he's getting at, and it's a good question to have linked from <http://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/boyle>. Maybe some Boyle out there can explain the general origins of the surname.

Chris
Sounds good to me, you are obviously much more familiar with all the internal links that I will ever be.  I'm still trying to figure out the most competent way to fix my 'sources'!  UGH!
