Merge - how can I keep the higher #merge?

In a comparison the 1150 # has more source info and when merged to 1139# doesn't bring in all the source info - can I delete the 1139 and use 1150?

yes, it will bring in all the source info.

both will be combined, and you'll need to edit the combined data to remove any duplicated info, after you complete the merge.

unless there's a spelling difference, we always want to keep the lower number.

Merges should always be into the lower number, where the last name is identical. It does not result in any loss of data if you do the merge correctly as there is an opportunity to tick/untick yellow and green boxes relating to pertinent facts before the merge is completed.

I find it useful to open up the page that compares the two profiles TWICE, then use one of those windows to click to continue the merge, leaving the other one for reference. That way when you look at the page with the green and yellow tick boxes, if you need to reference the profiles, they are there side by side in the other window.

Once the merge is done, you should then remove duplicate headings, putting all bio info under one bio heading and all sources under one sources heading and remove the four - - - - that make a division line.

Hope this helps.

C, you cannot delete a profile, but you can merge it. 1150 should be merged into 1139, since it was created earlier. What I find useful is to copy the information from the bio into a text file before merging, just in case there is some sort of loss of information. (but you really shouldn't lose anything anyway. Both sets of information will be there and decisions must be made about what to keep, what to delete, etc.)

No, you can't decide to keep the higher number. And in the circumstance you describe, that would not be necessary. All material in the biography of both profiles will be kept in the merged profile.
