Notable Max Planck's first name

Max Planck's birth entry shows him as Marx Karl Ernst Ludwig, he later always used Max. Nobody knows whether Marx was the intended name or a mistake by the person entering the birth/baptismal record. Marx is a German given name, it developed as a contraction from Marcus. Since the name is recorded as Marx I would like to propose to use it for our First Name field and use Max as the Preferred Name. (We now have Maximillian and I cannot find any record for this use.)
