Winnie Knapp was found to exist first (unnamed) in the death notice of Arthur Knapp of Mendocino County California as a surviving daughter. Then we found her in the 1910 census by name after her mother remarried. In the census she was listed as the adopted daughter. Since her mother Ella would have been 41 at the time of her birth, we are wondering is Arthur and Ella adopted her or if she was their natural child. At any rate we can only find her in the death notice of Arthur, the 1910 census, and -oh yes - we have what could be a photo with her, her mother, and aunt Emma (our great grandmother). We want to know what happened to her - did she die as a child or what? Her mother's second husband died in 1924 and the last we know of Ella she was living as an elderly border in the 1930 census of California (Palo Alto).
