If there were an Honor Code for editing historically-significant ancestors what would it include?

In a post by Lindsay ("Adding profiles over 300 years (or 200??)") the idea of a "Wiki Historian Honor Code" (or whatever it would be called) came up.

It would be something that you need to sign in order to add or edit 300-year-old profiles, i.e. the ones we broadly categorize as "historically-significant ancestors".

This would be parallel to the Wiki Genealogist Honor Code. You'd sign your name and it would appear on the page. You'd get a badge. Then you'd be able to edit 300-year-old profiles.

If we were to do such a thing, what would the Honor Code say?

either add the important points of the HSP page or make sure they read HSP...

 

that they know style guides or at least have read them

 

that they know user groups exist

 

normal honor code signing is a given, I think.

Pledging to be responsive to the user-groups, and to honor their consensūs (that's the real plural--as a Latin teacher I'm contractually obligated to use it) (not really).

I agree with that point!

(Also, that's only the correct plural in Latin, not in English. As someone who occasionally splits infinitives I'm contractually obligated to protest people using Latin rules in English. Haha!)
