Thank you so much for adding George Herbert, Lord Carnarvon to the Connection Finder!!  I myself am 25 degrees from George Herbert.

But it was the connection line I found fascinating. The Spencer family was in that connection line. It turns out that one of my newly discovered cousins (who contacted me earlier this year via Wikitree) is actually a 6th cousin to the late Diana Princess of Wales!!!!

My 3rd cousin Margaret Stewart (Stewart-22600) is a 6th cousin to Diana Princess of Wales through their common descent from the Littlejohn family of Aberdeen in Scotland.

This means that the connection I have to Queen Elizabeth - which used to be 27 degrees of connection - has now dropped to 17 degrees!!!!

One more little comment to make. The profile for George Herbert is very well done!! But perhaps the background image could be changed?. Being as dark as it is - it hides the connection and genealogical links right down at the bottom of the profile. They are almost impossible to see.

It was a typo.  Looks OK now.
Thank you so much for fixing that up!!  Now I can read it!!
Since Diana was just 2 degrees of connection away from Queen Elizabeth, I guess this means I have 15 degrees of connection to Princess Diana. My closest royal connection ever!!
UGH

OK I sent an email to my cousin Margaret to tell her this news and she wrote back to me to tell me that she was not exactly happy to learn that this relationship exists.

She is clearly not a fan of Dianas. Apparently she thinks Diana should not have any affairs at all (especially with the riding instructor) - she said nothing about Prince Charles and Camilla.

Margaret also said that the thought of being related to Diana's cad of a brother Charles Spencer (whom we all know has been married like 3 or 4 times) and who probably also has a few bastard children, was making her ill!!

I do not wish to start any argument about Charles and Diana and now I m sorry I even mentioned this on G2G at all. Now I feel awful!!
No need to feel awful Robynne, the person who needs to get a grip is your cousin!  If you're happy about the connection don't let her mithering spoil it for you, that old saying comes to mind... "we can choose our friends but not our family"!  :)

I AM happy about this connection. Thanks Brenda.

I sent my apologies to Margaret and she wrote back saying that she was joking. Her first email was "tongue in cheek" as she calls it.

That was really "tongue in cheek"  - I was joking. Aunty Mary used to joke that we had royalty in the family - and that was before Diana was the rage. We are having a real laugh.

I feel better now.

my 12th great grand mother was elizabeth plantagenet on my morgan line and further back through my chapman line through the bathurst line

the bathurst estate which you can find at https://www.cirencesterpark.co.uk/

good luck researching more into you tree
I think all of us have people we are thrilled to be related to, and people we wish we were not related to.  The same line that connects me to QE II (though the Queen Mother),  and to George Herbert, also connects me to the Mosleys (British fascists).
But would also connect you, at least through marriage,  to Jessica Mitford, the civil rights activist and communist
Hmmm. Sounds sort of like a Judgy Judy to me. Lady Diana Spencer had a huge heart and was incredibly loving. That is how I want to remember her. Anyhow...I am a cousin of Diana's. Hello! Happy Dance. My daughter is running around happy that she is related to Prince George/Princess Charlotte. We share a pair of grandparents about 10 generations ago. Finally, my genealogy findings were something my 14 year old thinks is cool. :)
My cousin actually had several lols written in that email and I didnt see  them. I didnt realise that her lol's meant she was laughing.. It was MY fault for mis-reading the email.

When I use LOL to show I am laughing, I always make them upper case LOL so the reader sees them!!
Ok, she is officially not Judgy Judy! Happy she was teasing. :)

Diana herself didn't catch my interest much, until I learned of my own relationship to her. Of course I never disliked her, but just wasn't fascinated by royalty matters per se. Funny thing was I had noticed uncanny resemblances between members of her family and numerous relatives on my father's side, and now I know why. My paternal 11th-great-grandfather is Diana's 14th-great-grandfather. I'm descended from the same grandfather, along this and other lines, at least five times over.
