Is Robert Adams related to Pres. John Adams?

I am working on my line from Robert Adams to daughter Mary Adams to her daughter Hannah Goodrich. Then I need help for Hannah. I thought she married Natanial Pettingill and had a son Nathanial. however, I cannot find birth of second Nathaniel. But i sidetrack. When I found Adams in my tree, I thought it would be fun to see if John Adams is a cousin.. SO really two things. How do I find my generation of Nathaniel Pettingill, died 1783, but cannot find birth and how would I find a common ancestor to Pres. John Adams? Thank you

I'm sure this sounds like too simple a response and is likely not what you are wishing for, for that i'm sorry, but I think the answer to your second question is...

You need to research and fill in more ancestors for each.  As you complete the branches a connection may reveal it'self.  Whenever you make a new connection to existing profiles you can try the Relationship Finder and see how it's going.

Although maybe not the answer you hoped for, I still hope this is of some help to you :)

Nathaniel Pettingil that married Hannah Goodrich/Goodridge in 1703, appears to have died in 1718.  In his will he names - wife Hannah, sons Richard, Benjamin, Joseph and Humphrey and daughter Elizabeth.   The probate record is on American Ancestors- requires subscription.

There is a Nathaniel Pettingil died in 1783 at Methuen, wife was Jane Crow.  Don't know if that is his first wife, or he was married prior to Jane.
