Ireland Project

I'd Like to create a project for Irish Families. Sort of like the scottish clans.  I personally have tons of irish heritage and would love to see a section dedicaed to them. In our countries early years the irish helped to build so much for us and did so many great things while facing incredable hardships. So if anyone is intrested let me know. I'm hoping to get a bunch of people together, so let me know some of your irish names so I can start orginizing it because regardless of it Im able to create a project here I might very well just make a website to go with it and would love the help with that as well.

THanks!

Marianna,

Not only am I interested but I also administer the "Airghialla Mag Uidhir" FTDNA Project.  We are a group of surnames that relate back to "Uidhir" (annals noted 956AD) and Donn Carrach Maguire (d-1302).  Mag Uidhir is old Irish for Maguire/McGuire.  Through extensive Y DNA testing we have found an association between the likely descendents of both Uidhir and Donn Carrach (as well as other progenitors in the tree).  The various sept surnames include: Maguire/McGuire, McAuley, McMahon, McManus, Corrigan, Gurry/Curry, Byrnes/Breen, McOsker, McCown/McKown, McDonald, McCadden, Donohoe and more.

I've only recently joined Wikitree, so my own GEDCOM is awaiting approval.  However, this special project sounds promising indeed!

Thanks

Brad
One of my Irish ancestors is Honora O'Donohue Burke.

Could we just start with creating categories for this purpose?  I have recently been looking at Australian categories and did create one that would be useful for this project, Irish convict.  I will be creating irish Emigrant too once i get to those ancestors.  I have been trying to link up to the broader immigration and country categories.

Happy to be involved in a project too, if it gets going.

This Project was suggested in early September maybe the project should be started there seems to be some intrest
I'd like to learn more when possible incase it helps me locate my irish gandmother (x 6) who was born in Dublin in 1816.
So far have had no luck tracing her steps back, only from her arrest (in east end of London) in 1833,  to her being shipped here in Australia.

Let me know as maybe I can also be of help :)
