I imagine that Manny Hawthorne will be happy to have your participation in the one-name study that he started, Derek. It looks like he hasn't gotten very far off the ground with it yet -- and from his activity log I infer that he may be on holiday. We collaborate at WikiTree, so this single name study should include everyone who's interested in focused study of this family name.

Because there are a number of variant spellings of the name, your intention of including Hawthorn in this study seems very appropriate. It seems to me that other spellings, such as Hathorn and Hathorne, also ought to be included. The Hawthorne name study page can accommodate three tags, only one of which is currently in use, so it might be a good idea for you to be bold and insert a couple of variants. (If he's bothered by that, your changes can always be reversed.)

It's likely that the name has multiple origins, so it may be desirable to document different lineages of the name. If you have a good story to tell about your Hawthorne line, you might want to create a free-space page to tell it -- and add your page to the Hawthorne Name Study category. You could also categorize the profiles of your Hawthorne family members.

Derek, I awarded you your Name Study badge. I will merge the two Hawthorne Name Study pages together. No problem (-:

p.s. Make sure to add me to the Name Study space page as a manager so I can merge the.

Just add LUDLOW to this project.
I have just created the Leahy Name Study Project.
Hi Maggie,
I have started the Overmars name study, and I like to join the project

Thanks Herman
Maggie,

I started the Fritz name study a year a while ago then was out going to school.  I want to get active on it again.  I see that we have over 1200 Fritz profiles on the tree.  I would gladly work with someone else in developing the project as I haven't gotten very far with it.  Perhaps this will entice more Fritz profiles to join the one name study!

I was never issued a badge for the one name study.  I need to mentally go back to square one and catch up on what I need to do.

Taylor

Hello,

I am trying to join the Holmes One Name Study.  It is unlocked and I have contacted the study manager but he didn't know how to join me.  Can you give me direction.  I think I need the ONS badge and then I add some script to my profile like the following: {{One Name Study|name=Holmes}}. Do I put this in my bio section?  Is there anything else I need to know?

Thanks,

Ryan Holmes

Hi Maggie, can you add me for the Badge, iam doing thr Overmars name study
You are all set, Herman, for Overmars study.
Thank you Maggie :)

I started up a Smerdon ONS 2 weeks ago but noone seems to have placed it into any category.

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Smerdon_One_Name_Study

I would also like to do a ONS for the surname LITTLEY as well. There is a LITTLE name study but NO LITTLEY so I claim the ONS name for LITTLEY - Have just made up a free space page too.

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:LITTLEY_One_Name_Study

Oh and I already have the ONS badge too.

Thank you.

Actually, *you* are supposed to place it in a category *grin*

Then you email the leaders of the ONS project and they set up the redirects to the relevant surname page.
I created another category for it, Robyn. Also I need to merge two Smerdon Name Study spaces together so approve me as editor ( you should have gotten the request in your email) and the promblems will be all solved.

I've created a one name study for the surname Bann

Could have originally been Ban or Bans
Originates in Republic of Ireland
Before 1878 I can't find any information relating to my specific branch and it really doesn't seem to be a common surname in the UK.

Does anyone want to join in?
by anonymous G2G Crew (780 points)
Welcome to the project Christine!
p.s. You might want to post what you said here from your Bann Name Study space page (in the G2G question window, there are two boxes below the one where you type your question - Space:Bann_Name_Study in the first box & tags in the second ... for example, you could add the tags Bann Ireland & United_Kingdom).

Cheers, Liz

Hi Maggie

I am collaborating with Kirsty Maunder (Maunder-179) on her new One Name Study for Sillifant.  I have created all the categories and her Study appears in the list of ONSs.  Could you please add the badge to her profile page, and redirect to the surname page? Thank you.

I want to start a Freeman ONS.   There is a Freeman study listed, managed by Freeman-7565.  It looks abandoned.  I sent a private message several months ago but have not received an answer.  He has no activity for at least a year that I can see.  What should I do?  Just start with the abandoned project page or start fresh?  I would prefer the second option if that's not a problem.  I already have a project badge.  Thank you.

Hi Lynn Hemrick, I will ask the Leaders what should be done.

Hi, I started the one name study for STEWART this includes STUART & STEUART as the main variations and links to numerous others.

This study has existed for some time now but I have not been awarded the badge.

I would appreciate it if this could be rectified.

I have created the Toups One Name study. I will be adding the profiles I manage, orphaned profiles, and open profiles to the project and requesting that profile managers add "Toups" or "Dubs" profiles to the study as well.

In the future, I will be adding "Bourgeois", "Schaeffer", and "Simpson" one name studies but not yet... one at a time!
