If not she should be changed to Unknown. Actually she and the other Marie should be merged after one of them is changed to Unknown. See the bio on Marie (Rodan)

I have found private family tree so I cannot see if there is any source information. However here is the public comments however not conclusive information to support the last name Browning so this information may be supported by a ancestry tree

Matching Person (from family trees)

image Marie Browning Donovan, J_(1)

  • Birth:  1610 - Essex, England
  • Marriage:  1634 - Salem, Essex, MA (Massachusetts)
  • Death:  01 Sep 1641 (1 Sep 1641) - Salem, Essex, MA (Massachusetts)
  • Parents:  Malachi Browning, Mary Collier
  • Spouse:  Robert Pease

But I would concur with your assessment.

Wonder if that Donovan implies another marriage? Except Donovan is a really strange name in Salem in the 1600's. Neither Savage or the Great Mig. Dir. list any Donovan's
Good question! I have researched this line many times and have not seen any source for Marie’s last name. One writer even speculated that Marie was French.

Please have a look here. By the way, the Vernon line I show is significant and proven with a Will.

Thank you Dave, I don't think that is quite enough proof. Nothing that you have on your tree for sources actually makes the connection between Mary Browning and Robert Pease. In addition, I took a look at the "Annals of Edgartown" to see if Malachi Browning would have some evidence. Unfortunately Malachi, doesn't even have a known daughter Mary, but a daughter Susana and a son Daniel. Our wikitree profile for Mary only has her alleged mother attached.

Do you have a primary source for believing that the wife of Robert Pease was a Browning?

Marie Mary Browning on My Heritage

1609 - 1677 narrows down the three Mary Pease.  This would lead to Marie Mary Browning beingmarried to Robert Pease and mother of Nathanial

Does this give any source for the surname Browning or is it just another unsourced family tree
myheritage.com/research/record-40001-179129421/marie-mary-browning-in-familysearch-family-tree

Look at the comments...he goes over several records to show this is the correct Mary.

Also, he refers to the 3 Mary Peas and this source:

"The 3 Mary Peases of Salem, Massachusetts" by Ian Watson

Several trees have Malachi Browning 1584 and Mary (Collier) Browning 1604 as parents.  I'm not finding a great source for that other than publications about settlers during that time period.
Unfortunately, I cannot access My Heritage without paying a fee, but I will take a look at the Watson article.
I wish I could copy it for you, but I can't paste on these comments
Thank you Misty. The Watson article talks about all the second generation Mary's. The my heritage information basically talks about the same thing. I was able to glean the information about Robert's wife's second marriage to Haines.
A book called "Founders and Patriots of America," by National Society of Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America has Mary Browning listed as the wife of John Pease NOT Robert Pease, married about 1630.  (The word MASS XXXIII written).
