My great great grandfather is James Thomas Carter. I believe he was born 1 Jan 1818 in SC. According to what I've been told, he was one of 8 boys with Biblical names and a sister named Anne. A census report shows his father was born in SC. Thomas left home to be a carpenter's apprentice. Eventually, he ran away and joined the Georgia Volunteers on 5 Oct 1837. He lived in Tuscaloosa County, AL from 16 Jan 1851 to around 1854 moving to MS, then AR and then back to Chickasaw County, Mississippi. He lived there until his death on 3 Mar 1898. He had 2 wives and many children. I am looking for any information regarding Thomas or his siblings. I have a DNA test on ancestry.com and familytreedna.com. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Look in wikitree at Thomas Carter born 1725 and died 1787.  He had several descendants named Thomas Carter.  You might find a name under his descendants that would help you.  Also look under Thomas Carter born 1725 and died 1774 for possible help.  Both of these Thomas Carters were in SC.
