Andrew J Cope was the first born child of Andrew J. Cope, Sr. Andrew Jr. was in the 14th Cavalry and also served in the 15th Calvary. If he was born in 1828 or 1829, Andrew Sr. would have been married to Anne Hands a number of years before 1837. Andrew Sr. born 1808 would be in his 50's when the war broke out.

On the 1850 census of Andrew Cope b.1808 it has Andrew Cope Jr b.1846 he was one of the youngest sons

Andrew Cope. Sr may have been married twice I was just going by the 1850 census

If you look at that find a grave information they was 10 years between the first child and the second child , that Andrew Cope b.1829 most be another one , Thanks
add the tombstone says 1839 I believe someone at find a grave needs to fix this
Andrew Jackson Cope Jr was 20 years old when he enlisted so he would have been born 1842 the census for 1850 has him age 4 the date on the tombstone says 1839 and the find a grave says 1829 which is for the tombstone of 1839
Yes this Military record for this Andrew Jackson Cope is not the right one. the one I'm looking for was in North Carolina
