Is there a way to convert myheritage dna results?

I wanted to upload myheritage csv file to ftna.com but it doesn't accept this type of file yet. Does anyone know of a way to convert my results into something acceptable by ftdna? It seems like 23andme and ancestry files are pretty acceptable everywhere. What kind of files are they?

Register at GEDmatch and follow their instructions to upload your myHeritageDNA results there.  Then enter you GEDmatch ID on your DNA Tests page in WikiTree.

Hi Petere. I've done that already, I need to convert my csv file so I can also use it elsewhere like ftdna. Any idea on how to convert it?
Family Tree DNA does the lab work for myHeritageDNA. So it seems silly that myHeritageDNA makes it difficult to get their results into the Family Finder database.

You would think so, right? But check this out: http://forums.familytreedna.com/showthread.php?t=41592

Also, when I upload, I get an error message that that file type is not supported.

Shelby, I have no knowledge at all of MyHeritage. Sorry.

The other major players in DNA testing allow you to download raw DNA files in ZIP format (a compressed file with a ".zip" extension). Pretty much required because, even compressed, the raw files are about 6MB in size.

I can't imagine any site accepting a .CSV file of atDNA results...it would be massively large.

Is there an option to download in that .zip format?

Hi Edison!

It did download the raw csv file from a zip. I don't think not unzipping it would change the file. I could try uploading the zipped file to see if that works. I was just hoping someone knew a surefire conversion from csv to whatever ftdna or ancestry files where. I am pretty sure ancestry files are txt files.

thank you!

Trying it now...  and there's the big red NO error. It says:
The specified file 'MyHeritage_raw_dna_data.zip' could not be uploaded. The file type does not have a valid file extension. Allowed types: TXT ZIP

I need to convert that csv to a txt somehow. Hopefully someone knows a converter. Google couldn't find me one :)

It may be more complicated than I thought:

I can only imagine that MyHeritage isn't playing as well with all the other kids in the playground as we'd like.

Best of luck!

I saw that yesterday too. I even tried changing it from csv to txt, but no luck. Still hoping for a converter out there!

I've managed to upload my data to FTDNA - you need to re-download the raw data from MyHeritage again, them seem to have changed the export. Last year the zip file I got had 3 files, this time only got 1 file in the zip file.

the transfer is now internally and much simpler.

good luck.

I had trouble uploading a .csv file from MyHeritage TO MyHeritage (separate account). I opened the .csv in Excel, removed all the header rows, leaving JUST the data, then saved as .csv file again. The file with ONLY data in it uploaded. If you have a good .csv and the site you're using claims to accept .csv, try the edit that I did so that your file has nothing but the data in it. Only takes a minute to edit and might help. Good luck.
Thanks, James Bell, that worked for me just now :)
