Why can't I get Robert Williams-1585 when I type into URL? [closed]

Question

So, I delete my name, then I type Robert Williams-1585 into the upper left hand corner space and I get the page "page not found."  There must be a disconnect here someplace.

Now when I type his name below, it says profile does not exist, but it clearly does because I've been working on it for the past 3 days..  :-)  and it comes up in the Family Tree Search.

Did you type Robert Williams or just Williams followed by the number?

I'm not quite sure how you are trying to get to him. (are you including the Christian name? If so, I think that will be what causes the problem

I just replaced the proflle name and number on a profile I had open.

ie I had this one open https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Wesley-302

replaced the end bit with Williams-1585 (its the only way I know but it does work)

Worked as you said ... just replace the last portion of the URL with Williams-1585.

yes, that was the problem... I was typing his first and last name + #.

Weird, I've used this mechanism so many times, don't know why I thought I needed to use first name this time around.

It worked for me:  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Williams-1585 - pasted "Williams-1585" in place of the ID in the URL, and went right to him.
