Can you export it from Geni and then upload it directly to WikiTree? Or did you have to use software to convert it to a .ged file?

Yes, I did upload the Geni gedcomchoice Forest with maximum 500 profiles, because WikiTree doesn't accept 501 profiles or more without sources. The sources and documents are in the gedcom, but on the wrong place or only with a URL to the regarding documents. So the maximum size of Geni gedcoms, 5,000 profiles must be split before uploading to WikiTree or modified.

Users who were removed from Geni by the staff got a gedcom file with a forest of 100,000 profiles.

The Geni gedcom is a zip-file, you have to unzip that. One of my Geni friends, who comes within a short time also to WikiTree I suppose, wrote a program to modify the Geni gedcom to prevent a mess in the notes.

Yes I did too. But ended with two problems: a the patronyms on Geni are listed in the first name box on Geni and not in the surname box and for wikitree they are listed as surname "unknown" and so not accepted with my gedcom upload and b many profiles on Geni have no dates (or maybe they have but not uploaded on wikitree) and when more than some (I have much profiles without dates wikitree mailed me) wikitree doesn't allow. Well I can understand that very well.

Only what to do now? Make sure as many as profiles of my tree get as many as dates and make a new down- and upload of my gedcom or is there another suggestion what to do? And what to do with the patronyms (no surnames) which wikitree calles the surname as "unknown"?

at this moment I dont know what to do with my gedcom. Thanks anyone for answering, much appreciated!
