I sent a trusted list request to be added to a space page. Now I have an additional 1500 profiles in my watchlist A while back there was discussion about a way to reverse such additions. Did that ever come to fruition?

found the answer - there's a button on the bulk remove form that lets you select recent additions, but that doesn't help in my case. Among the 1600 or so new profiles that aren't related to me that were added yesterday are a dozen or so profiles that I created, adopted, or merged in the past 2 months (at least, I think just 2 months - one that I checked was May 2). So I'll still need to go through them one-by-one.

Sorry Liz, that might have been my fault I should have asked if there were any other profiles that you wanted on my trust list and not all of them. That was my mistake. I hope you forgive me for that. This is Linda Barnett-3517.

I didn't mean to cause you a lot of problems. I will not do that again without asking.

It's ok Linda - used to happen to me all the time (albeit with smaller watchlists than yours!).

I've got my watchlist down to 2033 & it was 1898 the last time I checked, so I'm nearly there.

Turns out we share a family name & I wouldn't have realized that otherwise :D

My Watkins line is solid back to Asa's parents, but they're brick walls for me.

Cheers, Liz

How do we share a family name. What Asa parents are you talking about.

ooh - maybe more than Watkins. I kept a few of your Peebles on my watchlist too, so I'll remember to see if I can figure out how they might be related (or not) to the Poythress/Peebles folks who I researched a while back (I have a Jones in my early Virginia ancestry, so I do a lot of work on early Virginia families trying to sort out who might be their Jones connection). Anyway, check out this space page & see if anyone looks familiar to you. It has a lot of links to online leads, including a Gilliam one (I think I recall seeing a Gilliam on your watchlist):

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Poythress_-_Peebles

I'm still looking at the Watkins profiles, and I think we have a definite connection, I just can't figure it out yet. My Asa Watkins married Sarah McDonald, daughter of Willis McDonald, and your Watkinses include a Willis William Watkins and a William Willis Watkins. Willis McDonald is my Patriot Ancestor (for DAR membership). Asa's son, my g-g-grandfather, was William Hamilton Watkins. Had to share! This is exciting :D

sorry, I just saw your question (I was busy writing about the possible Willis McDonald - Willis Watkins connection).

Is Watkins not a surname in your tree? I had assumed it was, since you have so many Watkins profiles in your watchlist.

Asa Watkins' profile is linked to his parents, but I just posted about the name Willis in two of your Watkins, which would seem to connect them as descendants or relatives of Asa, whose wife was the daugther of Willis McDonald.

Asa's profile is https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Watkins-1253

Cheers, Liz

Ah - I just figured it out. You have profiles from your cousin's tree on your watchlist... it's Janice (Harper) Robertson with the Watkins connection. William Willis Watkins Sr is her 5x-gr-grand.

Sorry!

Janice has the Peebles too (and Gilliam m John Watkins, so that name is hers also). Still, I'm happy to have found them :D
I am glad for you and so we are kin then is that in the Leonards side and not the Barnetts. It is very exciting. I do remember Gilliam, McDonalds and maybe Watkins. That person that is your Patriot Ancestor (for DAR membership). Than I should be able have him also as mine and maybe get DAR membership. How do you go about during that because I have some Patriot Ancestors in the Leonards  side.
now I'm confused. WikiTree doesn't show that you're connect to the Watkins at all. Did I miss something?

nope. Just checked your tree/ Janice's tree. You two are related to each other - you share as an ancestor  Michael Rominger - Janice is connected to him through Delbert Curtis Swaim (4x-gr-grandson) & you are connected to him through Deanna Leonard (5x-gr-grandson). The Watkins/Peebles are in the tree of Delbert Swaim's wife, Louise Catherine Watkins. So you are DISTANTLY connected through marriage, but not all all by blood. I believe DAR requires a lineal relationship (meaning an x-times great-grandfather, not great-uncle) to the Patriot Ancestor to join, and even if supplementals can be collateral (e.g., great-uncle), there is none for you with the Watkins through the marriage of Delbert Swaim to Louisa Elizabeth Watkins - who I don't even know yet whether or not she's related to Asa Watkins.

So... it seems we have a connection, but not a blood relation.

Sorry!

for information on how to join the DAR, check out http://www.dar.org/

Back when I joined, it was by invitation, but I think now an applicant can approach the chapter they'd like to join.
Deanna Leonard is my mom. Deanna would be 5x-gr-granddaughter because she is a female.

Ouch! The sudden addition of 1500 profiles to a watchlist would be painful.

That tool you found for removing recent additions to the Trusted List should make things much easier for you. It will create a checklist of profiles recently added to your list. If most of them were profiles you didn't want to be listed for, you can "Select All", then go down the list and Un-check the ones that you want to keep.

It seems to me that it should be possible for the tech staff to create an additional script that would allow a person to request Trusted List changes over a shorter time period -- for example, the last 3 days. That could make it more efficient for situations like yours.

if the shorter time period option could be offered, that would be perfect. As it was, working off the "recently added" list did cut down significantly the number of profiles to go through.

I love how WikiTree adds new branches to my tree all the time & I routinely check my tree for orphaned new-to-me ancestors. As a result, I don't always recognize the names in my watchlist. I also have my grandson's tree on my watchlist, & I don't always recognize his maternal relatives or distant Lavallees (he's actually my step-grandson, so we don't share ancestors).

I was surprised to realize that recent merges landed a profile on the recently added list.

One thing that was REALLY helpful was the "followed link" indicator... even though I had opened a bunch of profiles in the other list related to the Name Study I was processing, the majority of the names showing I'd visited the link were ones that were properly on my watchlist.

So - I'm nearly there.

Cheers, Liz
