Adopting abandoned project-protected profiles

Recently, I found a few abandoned profiles that seem to be project-protected, like the father of our king, Claus von Amsberg, and his grandfather, Bernhard von Lippe Biesterfeld. I adopted them, and was somewhat suprised to see that I could actually do that, since I don't remember actually joining any special project yet.

Hence the question: Is there a protocol for this? I adopted these, because I share some ancestors with some of them, but I don't really have much knowledge about European royalty yet.

I don't know if it's related, but when I try to add the ID Von_Amsberg-1 to this question, I see an error saying that the ID can not be attached. Would that be, because the profile is protected? The adoption shows as [anon] in my feed.
I think there is currently a problem adding ID's with two words, nothing to do with PPP status.

Might I suggest that, as you have some link through a common ancestor, you contact the European Aristocrats Project leader to discuss these profiles. There no requirment for a profile manager to be part of a project even if the project is protected, in the same way that there is no need for project manager to be a profile manager or even be on the trusted list. The protection is to prevent random merging into important profiles.

You may wish though to join the Eureopean Aristocrats Project, as the family profiles seem to be pretty good it would not involve much work, just adding crests and so forth, all done with a template so even less work than talking about it.

Adopting orphaned profiles over 200 years old is available to anyone. Well, almost anyone, I don't know that Guests can do it.

I know that, but the father of our current king would be 87 if still alive today, and his grandfather 102, so they don't fall under that category. And since they are protected, I would not expect that registered members would be able to adopt them anyway.

The fact that I can, looks like a sort of security hole to me, and that is why I asked.
I agree, that looks like a potential problem. Hope someone in authority will drop in.
Tom, guests can adopt profiles but the time limit is short on their profile management until they confirm themselves as members.
