Down another rabbit hole.

I was adding to the lines of the husband of Beverly Sills this morning and in the process I stumbled across a name that is well known in my area, Liberty Emery Holden.  He was a grandfather of  Beverly's husband and was very well known in the Cleveland, Ohio area, He was an art collector, attorney, proprietor of the Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper, real estate developer, owned the Hollenden Hotel, mine owner, president of the Union Club of Cleveland, mayor of Bratenahl Village, OH, trustee of Western Reserve University and Adelbert College, He also built the Cleveland Museum of Art. Sadly he does not qualify for the Notables designation due to a lack of a Wikipedia article, but I feel that his profile on here deserves to be one of the better ones so if anyone wants to help with it the help would be appreciated.

Was his son the founder of Holden Arboretum?  http://www.holdenarb.org/about/history/  I loved to go there as a child. Nice profile, Dale.  Thanks!

The Holden Arboretum was actually the work of his son's wife. and I drive thru there regularly because it is not far from my fathers house.
Sorry His sister convinced him to start it, not his wife, sorry.
Really?! - I think I've passed that exit on I-70 when I was making my weekly runs from Indianapolis to Pittsburgh (and back). It is a very small world indeed...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holden_Arboretum

"...History - The arboretum is named for Albert Fairchild Holden, a mining engineer and executive, who had considered making Harvard University's Arnold Arboretum his beneficiary. However, his sister, Roberta Holden Bole, convinced him that Cleveland deserved its own arboretum. Thus Mr. Holden established an arboretum in memory of his deceased daughter, Elizabeth Davis Holden. When he died in 1913, at age 46, Mr. Holden left a trust agreement in which he provided that funds be designated for an arboretum. After a study of possible sites, Roberta Holden Bole and her husband, Benjamin P. Bole, donated 100 acres (40 ha) in Kirtland Township. In 1931, the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas approved establishment of The Holden Arboretum. In December 1988, 75 years after Albert Fairchild Holden's original bequest, the Holden Trust began to benefit the arboretum as he and so many others had envisioned. His permanent endowment, together with the gifts of other contributors and supporters, make possible the development of a truly first-class arboretum.

The geographic area that Holden has property within comprises two counties, Lake and Geauga, and 5 townships and municipalities..."

You are correct Frank it was named for him and I said it was because of his wife when I should have said his sister.  It was a very big family and I am in the middle of adding siblings for Albert at this time and have not gotten to him yet. It is a beautiful location and like I said to Kitty I go there often because I am located very close to it.
I should check it out some time. It's only a couple of counties away.
Do take the time, it is worth it. I only live about 7 miles away and my father lives less than a mile from there.

I just discovered that his granddaughter married an Edwin Higbee. For those not familiar with the Cleveland, Ohio Area we had a rather large department store in the area with the name Higbees and if this connection is for someone associated with that store then it could get interesting for me. When I got married there was a relative of my wifes family with the last name of Higbee and they were associated with the family that the chain was named for.
