Sadly, I am not connected to Ros -- that would be awesome!  And even more sadly, I'm only 21 degrees from "Bad Frank".

But, thanks for posting these.  I love looking.

At the moment you are 34 degrees from Ros, Kathy.

Yipee!  I'm 30 degrees from Ros - and very proud to be her "cousin".

Thanks so much for doing these interviews, Eowyn!  I really enjoy learning more about the people I meet on this site.

I always enjoy reading Ros's posts, answers and comments on G2G & I'm only 38 degrees from her which is close for me! I cant believe there's a connection! There are still so few English wikitreers!

I'm blaming my husband for my slightly closer connection to bad frank through him though

I was surprised to be about 13 degrees  of separation from Frank Phillips. I guess a lot of folks from the mountains of s.w. Virginia and east Kentucky have connections. this connections- finder is pretty neat.

I was surprised to see that Connection Finder says I'm just 17 steps from Frank Phillips -- and connected through some of my colonial Massachusetts ancestry.

So I looked at the profiles in the connection path and discovered that the connection went through a woman born in Virginia in 1746 who was connected to parents who lived in Massachusetts and died well before she was born. I disconnected her from those false parents. Tomorrow I expect my connection to be more remote than just 17 steps.
thanks for the alert. I reviewed my connections to Frank Phillips and consider the line as plausible. the family names are common to the area and I have a Stallard  family connection early in my family tree.  it all depends on the accuracy of the genealogy records.
Glad to hear that your connection looks to be valid. Mine went through several unsourced profiles, and that particular link from Massachusetts to Virginia was obviously wrong. Connection Finder hasn't updated it, so I'm still showing 17 steps.
Phew! Today I'm up to 19 steps from Bad Frank. This connection path involves a family that is known to have migrated from New York to West Virginia, so it looks a lot more plausible (but I haven't checked it in detail).

Wow! I'm just 29 degrees from Ros, even though she's in England and I'm in the United States -- and we aren't even cousins.

That's not as remarkable as the number of different ways we are connected. That connection is through my paternal grandmother. I also have a 30-step connection through my maternal grandfather with a path that goes through a completely different* set of people. And in my paternal grandfather's line I find still more completely different paths of 32 steps and about 35 steps. Ros is a thoroughly connected woman.

* Added: Well, not completely different. Three of those 4 paths I describe have the first 10 steps at Ros' end -- to Trilby Tweedale and John Tidy.

Hooray! I'm connected to Ellen Smith!  Actually, I'm even closer to Frank Phillips - 27 steps.  But I prefer to say that I'm only 26 degrees from Queen Elizabeth II - only a smidgen closer than Ellen. :o)

I'm connected  to Ros through my husband who has a gg grandfather from Cornwall.

It's is the first of these connections I've found that doesn't  go across the Atlantic or via S Africa and back again as in the case of the Queen

Its still 36 degrees though .It takes a very wriggly route around Cornwall

( looking at it not so wriggly , several of the 'links' come from 2 families in  Warleggan , husband's comment "that's it, we're definitely related to Poldark!' )

I've got families in Warleggan, too...the Stantons in the eighteenth-century.  Since a lot of Americans seem to think I am a man called Ross, maybe I should change my name to Poldark and confuse generations of genealogists! *grin*

Kudos to both Ros and Helen for having well-developed genealogies in the UK, so that it is possible for you to have connect path that doesn't cross any oceans!

In my efforts to connect an Unconnected profile that I created quite a while back, I've been running into way too many Unconnecteds in England.
