Sending 'private' emails doesn't seem to accomplish the task.

Hi Bill,

Welcome to wikitree. You may have found an Unresponsive Profile Manager I would suggest checking the contributions on the person to see how long it has been since they last made a contribution.

They may not be intentionally unresponsive.

  • Sometimes a member changes their e-mail address and forgets to update their account here.
  • Sometimes e-mail messages get caught in spam filters.
  • Sadly, some WikiTree members have passed away.

Regardless of the reason, unresponsive Profile Managers are a major problem for our collaborative family tree project.

Best regards

Answered by a true Scotman.  All pieces of the answer are possible; however, not as likely as pure ignoring, as this is the case for several surname over three/four years.

Best,

Bill
Hi Bill, :)

I'm not sure what you mean by the implication of a true scotsman. However I find it unfortunate that you feel you are being ignored. Perhaps if the question is not private you could ask a question here in the g2g perhaps someone may be willing to help you.

Best regards
I don't think you have been writing to me but I am wary of emails from people I don't know. The problem with private emails from wiki-tree is that a reply to them reveals my e-mail address to them. I will only reply if I am pretty certain that the person sending the message is an active member.  I would far rather that the intial communication was through a  comment on my profile or on the profile of the person in question (though I share your frustration in that lots of comments on profiles are ignored)
Hello Steven,

A 'true Scot = conservation of words as well as money.  To post in such as the G2G, when I'm asking about the narrow spec of direct family should do the trick ...

Best,

Bill

Hello Helen,

No, I have found no correlation between us, thus, no requests from me. :(  In each request I ID that I am a descendant of someone in their tree..

Best,

Bill

Hello to Sterven Schmidt and ALL,

Thank you for your responses!  My feelings are not unfortunate.  It is just possible that my files contain information to fill in gaps for them as well as they for me!  Thus, they might be missing out.

Best.

Dear Bill,

Here in G2G we can sometimes help you find information.  For example, maybe this is a source for your grandfather GABLE that you can use on his profile.

"Indiana Marriages, 1811-2007," database with images, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:K3L6-67D : 21 January 2016), Charles Louis Gable in entry for Paul Howell Graty and Kathryn Louise Gable, 10 Aug 1942; citing Steuben, Indiana, United States, various county clerk offices, Indiana; FHL microfilm 1,887,335.

Welcome to WikiTree!  I hope you have good success attaching to the big tree. -NGP

Hello Nanette,

Bingo!  My Family!  A bit of knowledge to go with this marriage citing:  Charles Lewis GABLE, my Grandfather, passed in 1924.  Uncle Paul and Aunt 'Tat' were married about six months following our evacuation from overseas.  Thank you.

Best,

Bill

Dear Bill,

Evacuation??!?   Sounds like a good story for your profile, or your father's since you were just a child.  Did your Uncle Paul & Aunt Tat meet here or overseas?  Sounds like you have some stories to tell, and here on WikiTree is a great place to preserve them for the future. -NGP
'siyo Nanette,

Of course it is!  However, I'm not yet ready to share it here.  Still, one might catch me in a receptive mood sometime.

Best,

Bill

You can always post your query/comments on the Public Comments/ Bulletin Board section of a Profile Page, right hand side.

That way, all the  Profile Managers, will get notice of a post on that profile on their WikiTree feed.  It's useful when there are multiple PM's - more likely to get a response from someone.  However, if the PM(s)  haven't been active for quite some time it's less likely you'll get a response.
