Kay,

Upon the death of a member, the account is closed and their private profiles with no manager are deleted:

When closing an account open profiles are "orphaned".

So, if the profile you're asking about is a private one, there's no way you can be added to the trusted list.

If the profile is an open one, after the profile is "orphaned" you can "adopt" it.

I hope you find useful this information.

If you are a family member then you will probably be permitted to adopt private profiles that no longer have an active manager.  You can write to info@wikitree.com and explain your relationship - they may permit you to take over management of the profile(s) in question.
