Unexplained difference between Preview function and Actual!

Question

When I am in Elmer-1185, Edit, I employ [[Elmer-1185|William B Elmer Jr]] several places, it appears as expected in the preview, then when I leave Edit and return to my Profile the "William B Elmer Jr" appears in BOLD with no underline!!!!!!!

What am I doing wrong?

When a page has a link to itself, it does not display as a link. Instead, it displays as bold text. That's what you are seeing on this page.
