Did This William Haskell Marry Abigail Davis, too?

There are two William Haskells who are cousins.  On Wikitree, both are show as marrying Abigail Davis.

  • 1. William Haskell, Haskell-125, b 11 June 1674 at Middleborough, the son of John Haskell and Patience Soule. He is included in the Mayflower Project.
  • 2. William Haskell V, Haskell-305, b. 6 Nov 1670 at Gloucester, the son of William Haskell and Mary Brown.

All the evidence I find shows that William 2 is the one who married Abigail Davis and had at least 8, probably more, children.  I can find no evidence that William 1 ever married or had children. I believe that Abigail has mistakenly been attached to William 1, probably through an earlier bad merge.

Is there any evidence that is was William 1 who married Abigail?  If not, is OK to disconnect Abigail from William 1?

Thanks Eddie.  I looked at the ''Chronicles of the Haskell Family,'' but I didn't include it as a source because it didn't have any cites for specific information.  ''A short account of the descendants of William Haskell of Gloucester, Mass'' confirms what I have already found about William 2 (of Gloucester), and it also has few citations.

Eddie, The view that you have above, ''Massachusetts, Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988'' shows that Abigail died in Dec 1730 and William died in Jan 1731.  Does the other record at AncestryLibrary show something different?  If so, it wouldn't make any difference for the particular question here, but it would be good to have. I can't read the AncestryLibrary link.

Both go to the same document. Loaded both cuzz I dunno if you have ancestry regular or special. I have library special subscription cuzz I be doing YSU for my doctorate program.

The narrative, well sourced, is clear. There is no evidence that the earlier William married or had children. I detached Abigail as spouse.
