If you spend time with medieval history and genealogy, you'll encounter noted scholar and author Eleanor Shipley Duckett. The name caught my attention because both Shipley and Duckett are prominent names in colonial Maryland genealogy. (Full disclosure: I have both Shipley and Duckett ancestors.) So of course her name caught my attention.
While she spent most of her career in the US, it appears she was English and had no genealogical connections to Maryland.

She exists on the internet in Wikipedia and on the web site of Smith College, where she taught. But other than a comment regarding encouragement from her unnamed father, I can find nothing on her ancestry.
Anyone else care to have a go at it? She doesn't have a profile yet -- I was going to create one, but wished I at least knew who her parents were first.
Post-script -- thanks, Ros, for the creation of the profile, which is now linked!
