You might find this useful when you start working in Ireland

    https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Sources-Ireland-Province-County

More likely the record at https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1892/02336/1874166.pdf

James Hoey born 1st September 1892 to James Hoey and Anne Cluskey in Williamstown. In searches this will show as the district of Ardee.

He could be https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QVBP-PTDS though there were three James Hoeys born in 1892.

    EDIT:

Lce-Corpl. J Hoey, 8th Royal Dublin Fusiliers (Irish Brigade) has been awarded the D.C.M. for conspicuous bravery in action against the Germans on April 27th. He is a native of Castlebellingham. Colonel Edward Bellingham is in command of the regiment, in which numerous Co. Louth men are serving. At the front they have named themselves “Bellingham’s Own”.

    (Dundalk Democrat,13 August 1916)

The 1901 census also shows older siblings Bridget, Mary and Rose - http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Louth/Castlebellingham/Williamstown/1564789/

Thank you John for the additional information. You maybe able to advise me further. I am trying to find out whether the George Hoey mentioned as the youngest siblings is my Great Uncle through marriage. I believe his middle name was Vincent. My information is that he was born in 1889 and that his father was a J J Hoey. He left Liverpool in early February 1926 arriving in St John New Brunswick, Canada on 14th February. I think he may have travelled with my Great Aunt, Helena (Ena) Harris. They eventually settled in Manitoba.

    Regards

    Melvin

There's a George Vincent born in c1889 at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Meath/St__Mary_s/Bey_More/712847/ but his father is George.

and George V Hoey married Helena Harris in 1921 in Birkenhead near Liverpool in 1921 - see https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QVZK-VN7G
