Why are some names checked as "Skip" even though there is no one listed as "suggested matches?"

I carefully  had read the instructions about how to clean up my GEDCompare file before sending this question to you, but I am still confused.

Some names that have no suggested matches have checks in the skip column and some do not. Does that mean that all the names that don't have any suggested matches but are checked in the GEDCompare report are definitely duplicate names even though I have no opportunity to check those supposed duplicates? Or do I have to manually uncheck all these names that either have no suggested matches listed and/or the names that had suggested matches but NONE of them were duplicates?

And how can I be sure that all my hard work is saved with I hit "Save Progress?" If I hit "Save progress" and close the GEDCompare file, how do I reopen it to continue my work? I've already hod to redo work that I'm sure I saved.

Sorry for my confusion.

Thanks again.

You can't import anyone born before 1700 and your profiles need to have birth/death dates ?

Hi George,

I still suggest reading this page... it answers these and other questions you will encounter:

Cheers!

I second Keith's suggestion.  Read all the help pages and other links related to GEDcom import that you can.  Many before you have ignored them to their regret.  In fact, many have paid attention to them, and still regretted it.
