My great grand father, His oldest Son, was named Danial Sylvester McDonald Sr. My Grand father's Name was Danial Sylvester McDonald. My dad's name was James Edward McDonald Born in North Dakota.

Their birthday's were 1832 approx. for Allan, 1866 for Danial Sr, 1886 for Danial Jr and 1934 for my father James. I have not been able to find anything. Please Help.

Citing this Record:

"Recensement du Canada de 1911," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QVB8-BRV5 : 19 March 2015), Allan S Mc Donald, 1911; citing Census, Glengarry Sub-Districts 1-33, Ontario, Canada, Library and Archives of Canada, Ottawa, Ontario; FHL microfilm 2,417,697.

The info provided seems somewhat correct. But there is no mention of my great grandfather who was the oldest of 10 children. There was Danial(my great grandfather was born April 7, 1866 in Greenfield Ontario Canada) , Hughie, John, Angus, Allen, Mary, Jennie, Tina, Bella and Katie.

Katie became a Mrs McCormick. Jennie married Dougal Kennedy and Mary Married a Richard ONeil in 1889. Mr ONeil died in 1927. Allen the youngest, was killed in France during WWI.

I find a lot of Allan's and Danial's but they never have the correct children or info to comfirm. Any Help here?
Hi Chuck

At the time of the 1911 Census, you would not expect all the children to still be living with their parents.  As you know, Daniel Sylvester McDonald was already in the States.  The fact that in 1911 an Allan S McDonald is enumerated with a wife of the right name and a daughter with the right married name is very encouraging.

To complicate matters for you, in that community the given names Donald and Daniel were basically interchangeable.  I think i have found Daniel and Sarah's marriage registration, where Daniel is entered as Donald.  I am also on the trail of the 1871 and 1881 census records, where there is a good chance he will be Donald.

Cheers

Shirlea
