Is there any way to distinguish between the surname (Wrights) and the plural of Wright?

This is no criticism, I'd really like to know if there's a way to differentiate.  Is there an existing protocol or guideline that could help?

Some in my Reitz family changed the spelling to Wrights, which sounds alike.  But their information is buried amongst all the Wright (s).

I learned the hard way that it's politically inexpedient to suggest accurate use of a surname forum. angry
