The Thomas Chapman, who moved to Indiana, was Thomas Chapman, Jr., son of Thomas Chapman b. 1758 died 1814 Warren County, KY. The location of the gravesite of Thomas Chapman, Sr. and wife Rebecca Todd Chapman have not been located.

The parents of Thomas Chapman were Ensign John C. Chapman and Sarah Sallie Abbott.  John C. Chapman was son of Isaac E. Chapman and Sarah Cole.
John C. Chapman, who died in Giles County, Virginia did have a son named Henley Chapman, but his Henley was about twenty years younger than my Thomas Chapman, b. 1758.  A John Grant Chapman of Charles City, Maryland also had a son named Henley Chapman, but he was also a younger man.  I am not removing Thomas as the son of either of the above, but believe my Thomas Chapman's middle name was also Henley.

I do believe my Thomas Chapman was of English ancestry.
The history of Thomas Chapman is incorrect.  Thomas was born 23 May 1758, Virginia to unknown parents of English descent. Thomas Chapman, Sr. died after Nov. 09, 1819 in Warren County, Kentucky.  Thomas Chapman's son, Thomas Chapman, Jr., moved from Warren County, Ky to Indiana, where he died.
