What's the best way to start a group/project of WikiTreers descended from a certain individual?

I'm not sure whether such groups already exist. As a descendant of John Lathrop, Mary Abell, and Francis Billington, I'd be interested in a project/group that involves a gateway ancestor's descendants (and others interested) to work on creating/improving profiles in the family tree.

Thanks for your input!

You might try looking at a one name study. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:One_Name_Studies I'm honestly not quite sure if that's what you're looking for. I'm also quite sure there are some Descendants of XXXX Space pages.

I have been using Facebook to gather desecendants of a particular ancestor.  I have three at the moment.  One is working gangbusters and has a lot of genealogists in the group, the others vary but have picked up recently.  They have a lot of people who are interested but rather like to read the work of the few genealogists in the group and contribute very little.

I am doing something similar with the descendants of one of my Revolutionary War Patriots, Abiud FAIRCHILD. While researching his descendants I have amassed over 600 pages of notes so I started a free space page with the bare bones of the information so I could see who still needed profiles made and links to the known descendants. I am still working on putting the individuals into the list as I only started a couple of days ago, but it is started here - https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Descendants_of_Abiud_FAIRCHILD_to_do_list if you wanted to take a look. Privacy levels could let you allow a group of trusted individuals modify the page as a group like you were asking about as well. Mine is set for people to see, but not edit. I would just have to add someone to the trusted list for them to be able to contribute.
