When you click the "unmerged match" option it will sit indefinitely at the bottom of the profile.

It will also stay in your personal list if you look under the "Find" tab at the top right of your screen...scroll down and click on pending merges...then on the top right where all the links are click on "Unmerged matches initiated by me."

If you want to research to see if there is a match, you click on "Unmerged Match"

If you have researched and the profiles represent two different people, you click on "reject match."

You find these two options by looking under "add" in the pull down menu in the upper right hand side of the page.  pull down and click on "matches and merges."  When the screen comes up, type in the last name, dash, and the wikitree #

Hope this helps.
