Is there a way to cross-reference our profiles with the Dawes Commission Index or Dawes Census?

I thought it would be nice to cross check the WikiTree Profiles with the Dawes Commission Index and or the Dawes Applications  or Census. Our system is setup to cross-reference Find A Grave and WikiData. Have we overlooked the Native Americans who are some of our PM's ancestors?

Is this something that can be done or is it too complicated?

The only way to be certain that you have the correct person from a Dawes record is to read both the card and the application and match names, ages, spouses, parents, children, and residence, and often reading the handwritten notes on the cards is also necessary.  There is not enough information in the index to make a determination, leading many to assume they have a Native American ancestor because they found a matching name.

Thank you, I thought it might have been too complicated.

There are now several WikiTree pages to help answer your Dawes Rolls questions!  Check out https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Dawes_Rolls.  Then scroll down to the See Also heading at the bottom of that page to find links with more in depth information.
