Looking for my GG grandfather from Sweden

Details are very limited

USA name Andrew Peterson, arrived in US sometime on or before 1872 to Isanti County, Minnesota.

Died April 18 1883, MN.  HIs birth on the county death record is Apr 11 1838.

My aunt has a note he was from (Blekinge??), but I've not found him there. No other informatin is available that I know of.  The only direct relative I'm sill missing on my tree.  thx   larry in Minnesota

Correction to death year.  1883, not 1838.

The 1880 census is correct for Andrew.  I have that one.   The 1870 census, however, is suspect.   There were a lot of Andrew Petersons in that area.   The child Arthur is a name I'm not familiar with.   Adolf was Adolf Edward b:1874, and later went by the name Edward.   Anna was the name of his wife who was married to an Andrew Johnson before Andrew Peterson.  Based on the birth year of Adolf I estimate Andrew may have arrived around 1870-1872.

Unsure if you found him yet or not but this is a potential match in the Swedish emigration record called "Emigranten".

The surname is as you can see not Petterson/Petersson, but I have seen that other Persson/Pehrsson has switched to Petersson when they emigrated to the US. The age is a fit and the year of emigration seems okay too. It states he left from Sweden via Copenhage, Denmark which is common for emigrants from Southern Sweden. The fact that the destination is St Paul is a good fit too. But unless you can find out where in Sweden he was born, finding his family can be tricky. In this case i searched all Anders Pe* between 32 and 35 who left between 1870 and 1874, so if the birth year from the census is right and he left between 1870-1874, it's a chance it is him.

Hi Larry! Think you should contact http://www.utvandrarnashus.se/. His Swedish name could have been Anders Petersson. You can also try http://ddss.nu/(S(clcnsh55yvlzt2u2gg1hjgf2))/swedish/default.aspx. You should know that aprox. 1 mio. swedes immigrated in the midst of 19th century, due to lack of food.

The estimated birth year can vary depending on whether a particular census was taken before of after a person's birthday. 

There may be a need to look at the April 18, 1838 death date, as stated in the body of the question.
