How to confirm knighthood in Cape Town castle 10 Sept 1950 for WW2 service

Any advice regarding this profile https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Bergh-112. His grand daughter has a local newspaper clipping attesting that he was knighted in the Cape Town castle 10 Sept 1950 (knighthood proposed by Lord Anderson, seconded by Sir Beresford-Wood and confirmed by Field Marshall JC Smuts). This was for exceptional service during WW2. I can't corroborate this. Is there any way one could find archival evidence one way or another?

Thanks Helen; no nothing there; is that the last word? I presume would fall under a commonwealth category for awards & recognitions.
