How far is WikiTree with the grow of the World Tree?

Where can I find the total number of genealogic profiles  on WikiTree and the total number of by marrigae and/or bloodrelation connected profiles in the Collaborative World Tree of WikiTree

I think it is very important to know how big is the connected World Tree. As a curator and leader of the Dutch community on Geni.com I collaborated with more than 1,000 users to make a broad basis for connection possibilities. Also we did the New Amsterdam project that connected thousands of American users to their Dutch roots. It was us a pleasure each time that we could connect new users to the Big Collaboration tree.

Now on WikiTree I want to do the same. Making a strong Dutch community and making connections between Dutch roots and  descendants of Dutch emigrants.

It is for all users a challence to connect with the world tree and to know that that connection is realised. Also it is amazing to see growing the world tree.

Fred,

I don't know the technical answer to your question, but I have linked in with at least fifty different profiles, with uncountable generations back.  Just this morning, working on a side line, I linked into one line that added four generations.  Sometimes one needs to search, and YOU know what I mean with the variant LNAB, etc, but the links are out there, especially when you get back into the 1700-1800's colonial American, and also in Europe.

Hopefully, some one with more tech savvy can answer your question better than I.

Nae.
Thank you Nae! Isn't here on WikiTree a software engeneer in the management who can produce a statistics display?
Oh, I am sure there is.  I have sent your question to Philip Smith, team leader on the Arborists and asked him to either jump in for you or give the proper person a heads up.  Sorry I couldn't help you with this issue directly.  :(
Nae & Fred,

Sorry, I can't help on this one.  I do not know how to get the kind of statistics that Fred describes.  I would like to see them, but I suspect that Wikitree is still so young that those kind of reports are just not available.  In the few short months I have been on Wikitree I have seen amazing progress.  As a new site our focus has to be on improvement, statistics will come a little later.
But you can't measure improvement or progress without base statistics.

Regarding the question of how many profiles are connected in one giant tree on WikiTree, this is something I'm also very interested in. Currently, we just don't know, as we don't have any tool set up that determines this. I actually recently mentioned to Chris that I'd like to develop one soon. My idea is just a tool that browses the tree, starting with one profile, and determines how many profiles are connected to that one (since theoretically there could be two or more giant trees which aren't connected to each other).

I'll be sure to keep you in the loop as there's progress on this, Fred!

Thanks for your answer and your understanding. This will really help and motivate a big group of users!
Gulp, oh Lianne, I now have this image in my mind of giant trees standing around seperatley unconnected, what is even more horrifying is the image of thousands of orphan profiles there are sitting about under those trees looking for a home!!!!!!
I would really love to see such a tool indeed. It's built in good old PAF, and it sets relationship indicators for all persons in my database in 2 seconds. With that speed it would take less than 10 minutes for the whole wikitree.

My own database is fully connected, but if a database is not, you can repeat the process for any non connected person, and thus count the number of clusters in the database too.
Wendy, Your funny! I think some might fall further from the tree if they knew the answer to that one. You might find Arborist bugging out a high rate of speed!! HAHA!

It would be a nice tool though!
Wendy, I can visualize a new project where WikiTreers are eagerly working to connect all the giant trees first, then the orphans. It would be like a gigantic puzzle.
Lianne, such a tool would be wonderful for WikiTree. It would be fascinating to see how the tree/trees are shaping up. :)
Hey Wendy, your comment on the giant WikiTree was funny,,on 09/27/13..  In reference to your answer I got a ( gulp) visual of giant Sequoias standing with all the orphan profiles as leafs looking for a home, too.  Big Redwood family trees...Thank you for a funny.  Made my day..

The the home page wikitree.com there is a line there, currently There are 5.9 million profiles from 100,000 contributors. But that is all the statistics there are. The rest is pretty meaning less for now, there are thousands of abanded, unmerged or incorrect profiles then there are things like my little branch has about 1100 profiles and I have yet to meet another profile to merge with so in rreality none of my profiles are in the Collaborative World Tree yet.
