Parents are thought to be George S. Minick (Minnich) and Adeline Baker. After Alonzo was born a Yellow Fever outbreak hit Pennsylvania. It is thought that Alonzo's mother died in 1843-1844. Family stories state that Adeline died after Alonzo's birth or the birth of another child. Alonzo was given to the Bakers (relatives), and George left for the California Gold Rush, never to be heard from again. Alonzo moved to Cedar, Johnson Co., Iowa. He married Lemira Sutliffe Swafford daughter of Julia Sutliffe. Bought land there, and after Lemira "Peggy's" death in Cedar, Alonzo and his children moved to Washita Co., Oklahoma. He died in 1910 (Washita Co., Oklahoma).His son, Jeremiah Swafford Minick married Mabel Beatrice Berry in Johnson Co., Iowa. Mabel's parents were Henry Nathaniel Berry and Maude Amanda Alt. Mabel lived in Cloud Chief, Oklahoma and owned much land. She is buried in Lawnview Cemetery, Cordell, Oklahoma.
