Patrick Stirling Guthrie & Ernest Hemingway

Question

I am new here. I have been researching my relative Patrick Stirling Guthrie, who was a friend of Ernest Hemingway. Hemingway immortalized him as “Mike Campbell” in The Sun Also Rises.

I discovered that there is already a profile for him here on Wikitree, but his surname is wrongly entered as Leslie, which was his mother's name, rather than Guthrie.

Is there any way to correct this mistake or should I create a new profile with his correct surname.

No do not create a new profile. At some point they would have to be merged.  Ask the person who created the profile to correct it.

Thanks very much indeed for the prompt answer. That is very helpful. I have now been able to change his "current" name to Guthrie and have sent a message asking the profile manager (who seems to have rather a lot of profiles to manage) to change the name at birth.

It looks as if the profile manager has not been active on WikiTree  for four years. I see that there is a procedure when the manager is inactive and if they don't respond I will be happy to take over the profile in order to make the necessary corrections.
