As I had my name changed by Deed Poll is Adelaide SA in 1968 Can I show my new name of simply PAUL ROSS? Perhaps stating 'Born McMenamin' to give the linkage to my blood family?

You would enter Paul in your First Name field and McMenamin in your Last Name at Birth (LNAB) field. Everything drives off of an accurate LNAB.

Then you would put Paul in your Preferred Name field and Ross in your Current Last Name field.

For an example, look at the profiles for former US presidents Bill Clinton and Gerald Ford, whose LNAB is not what you would expect.
